Love Yourself... and Make Me Look Good

Trivia Time! Which of the following describes Pop Culture today?

a) Perverted
b) Mentally Disturbed
c) Vulgar
d) All of the above

If you answered d) All of the above... you're correct. Pop Culture today is basically a bunch of auto-tuned, messed-up pervs who send creepy, disgusting messages out to society. Don't agree with me? Just look at Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Eminem, and Katy Perry. All celebrities who are really popular right now, and all celebrities who have some of THE dirtiest songs on the radio. Whether it's because of what they wear, the language they use in their songs, or just the message that they're sending out. These guys are... messed to be truly honest. And that's what the media wants.

But lately, there's been a trend going on with some celebrities. They're making songs with enlightening and encouraging lyrics. Mind you, these celebrities also have some really, really, really bad singles. For example, Lady Gaga. One minute she's in a Bad Romance, the next she's singing about how you should love yourself because you were Born This Way. Or take Katy Perry. On one hand she's singing California Gurls, a song about...well, things beyond PG-waters. But on the other hand, she's singing Firework, a song about how you should love and express yourself. Both these celebrities are known for being really bad role models, and both these celebrities have only one song about the exact same thing. Loving yourself. And it's the same story with a lot of other dirty singers. They basically sing the trashiest songs out there, then try to cover up their tracks and make themselves look good while singing songs about how you should raise your confidence because you're great just the way you are. Oh yeah, that and rake in the big bucks and high ratings while you elevate your self-esteem. Suddenly, singles such as Born this Way and Firework don't seem so encouraging, do they? Just kinda fake, forced, and greedy.

And apparently that's just what the media wants.
